Are you a Technical Specialist with a diverse range of engineering instrumentation knowledge? Do you have experience and knowledge implementing thin film vapour deposition systems, and are you passionate about supporting knowledge transfer with both industry and academia? Do you have extensive experience implementing and delivering exceptional research support in a research-intensive Russell Group University?

We are looking for an experienced, professional, and proactive individual to join our team and support teaching, research and design activities in Surface Engineering at the School, primarily the Royce Institute industrial PVD/PECVD Coating Systems (Hauzer Flexicoat 850) at Leeds.

You will work closely with technicians, students and academic staff to support our teaching and research activities, primarily providing a service towards the day-to-day management and operation of the lab. You will also communicate and conduct the coating deposition for external facility access from other academic institutions and industries. We are a growing state-of-the art facility that leverages a distinct interdisciplinary strength from many years of collaboration with a broad range of (Company Name - Subscribers only) departments, 20 UK/overseas universities and 20 external Industrial companies.

You will also be part of a team based in the Bragg centre for Materials research. The purpose built £96million Bragg building, with access to a superb infrastructure for research and a community of experimental research officers dedicated to supporting excellence in research. You will have a strong track record in thin film deposition, coating characterisation, industrial and research projects to research challenges, and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary and collaborative research.

You will play a prominent role in assisting postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in implementing cutting-edge engineering solutions to achieve the highest impact outcomes in Mechanical Engineering and related research areas. These areas include innovations in Energy Materials and Systems, Tribology Research, Nuclear Systems, Medical Technologies, Aerospace and Space material challenges, Automotive and Manufacturing Systems. Your strong track record in applying these technologies to research and industrial grand challenges, coupled with your enthusiasm for interdisciplinary and collaborative research, will be essential.
