An opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to work within the busy Outpatients Department and Scarbrough Suite based within the Outpatients & Support Services CSU at The Rotherham (Company Name - Subscribers only) Foundation Trust.

Duties will include supporting the delivery of a quality and safe outpatient clinic service for a variety of specialities including but not exclusive to oncology, cardiology, rheumatology, respiratory, haematology, vascular, gastroenterology.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a flexible approach, a strong team work ethos, an ability to work to strict clinical protocols and possess good communication and organisational skills. Previous experience working in an outpatient clinical environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Main duties of the job

The role of a Band 5 staff nurse in OPD includes supporting both the patient journey through the OPD department and also supporting colleagues.

Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures. Responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.

Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.

Organise and monitor the work and performance of junior colleagues providing constructive feedback, advice and on-going support.

Monitor progress of work within the unit, recognise changing priorities, implement corrective actions within own limits and inform the relevant people.

Assume responsibility and management of the clinical environment as required with support from the Band 7 manager

Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in own work area.

Identify and assess potential risks in work activities and how to manage these risks appropriately.

Take immediate and appropriate action in relation to adverse incident reporting utilising the hospital incident reporting system.

Communicate with people in an appropriate manner to ensure level of understanding incorporates preferred ways of communicating, culture and background.

Effectively communicate complex and sensitive information.
