Senior Highway Agreement Officer – (Company Name - Subscribers only) | Devon: (Company Name - Subscribers only)

Full Time 37 hours per week

Location: Great Moor House, Exeter, Devon or Ryefields, Avery Hill, Kingsteignton, Devon

Like a challenge? We are in a very busy period of new housebuilding and need an experienced engineer to work with developers building new streets, predominately in South Devon. This includes supporting exciting projects like the new towns and neighbourhoods.

The main purpose of the job is to approve specifications and oversee construction of streets and infrastructure so that they can be adopted by (Company Name - Subscribers only) as public highways.

You will need to prioritise the interests of residents and businesses, help to deliver high quality places and work to minimise the County Council’s future highway maintenance costs.

The post is largely site based, with some office working. It will involve liaison with consultants, developers and contractors to achieve the best possible outcomes. This will involve negotiation to ensure roads are built to an appropriate standard. Whilst there will be support available across our team, you will also need to be confident and happy working on your own and in challenging situations where you need to deliver a firm message.

What we are looking for:
The successful applicant will have a good knowledge of highway construction along with an understanding of the highway adoption process and the planning system. Good written and verbal communication skills are also very important for engaging with developers, colleagues, local councillors and other members of the community.

You’ll also need:

  • Ability to use Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to adapt to specialist software such as MasterGov.
  • A flexible and progressive approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

For an informal discussion please contact Richard Jackson on richard.jackson@devon.gov.uk or 01392 380 176.
