About us
The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER) comprises four institutes covering sustainable resources, energy, environmental design and engineering and heritage. It is one of UCL’s major departments undertaking research and teaching in these areas.
The mission of the Institute for Sustainable Resources is to generate knowledge that promotes the sustainable use of natural resources globally, across topics including resource efficiency, circular economy, eco-innovation, and low carbon societies. Much of our work is grounded in partnership with industry, government and other academic bodies, working together in tailored research and consultancy projects.
About the role
The appointed Research Fellow will work with a small team working on natural capital accounting for the Office for National Statistics. The specific focus of this project is the natural capital accounting of agricultural biomass.
This post is available immediately (subject to pre-employment checks) and is funded for six months in the first instance. Further funding to support the post may become available.
The interviews for this post will take place on 2 September 2026.

About you
You will have a PhD or commensurate experience in an area relevant to natural capital measurement and accounting. Experience in the methodologies and approaches for environmental ecosystem accounts (e.g. national accounting, natural capital, environmental valuation) is essential for this post.
