This position is offered strictly under the Temporary Work u2013 Religious Worker (Tier 5) visa category. It is a supporting, non-pastoral role within the Gurdwara. The postholder will not lead a congregation, provide pastoral care, or undertake duties reserved for a Minister of Religion. The role involves supporting the Minister of Religion (Head Priest) in day-to-day religious activities in accordance with Sikh Rehat Maryada.

Duties & Responsibilities

– Undertake non-pastoral work and support activities to assist the Minister of Religion (Head Priest) as and when required at all religious duties within the organisation.
– Support the delivery of daily and weekly religious programmes under the direction of the Head Priest.
– Assist with the preparation and organisation of religious events, ceremonies, and Gurdwara programmes.
– Provide practical support during services, including preparing the Darbar Hall and ensuring smooth running of scheduled activities.
– Assist with the preparation and serving of Langar.
– Maintain cleanliness and order in areas used for religious activities.
– Carry out additional supporting tasks as reasonably required by the organisation.
Duties (Skills & Experience Required)
– Experience in a similar Religious Worker supporting role
– Ability to perform duties in accordance with Sikh Rehat Maryada under supervision
– Good written and spoken Punjabi
– Understanding of Sikh religion, Sikh way of life, and Gurdwara etiquette
– Ability to provide references from previous employers
– Willingness to follow Sikh moral codes of conduct
– Eligible to work in the UK (visa sponsorship available under the Temporary Work u2013 Religious Worker route)
