Role Purpose
Working closely with the Head of Personal Tax, you will take ownership of a varied personal tax portfolio and play a key role in delivering a high-quality compliance and advisory service to clients. You will support the day-to-day management of the team, reviewing work, coaching junior colleagues and helping to identify opportunities to add value through proactive tax planning and wider (Company Name - Subscribers only) services.
Role Objectives
· Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring all compliance work is planned, reviewed and delivered accurately and in line with filing deadlines.
· Review self-assessment tax returns, tax computations and associated schedules, providing clear feedback and guidance to preparers.
· Supervise, coach and develop junior members of the personal tax team, supporting their technical progression and confidence in client delivery.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, acting as a trusted day-to-day contact and escalating complex matters where appropriate.
· Identify advisory opportunities, including share schemes, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, pension relief, tax-efficient giving and wider referrals across the business.
· Work closely with the corporation tax compliance team and wider service lines to obtain information and deliver a joined-up client experience.
· Prepare and review high-quality self-assessment tax returns, self-employed accounts and property income schedules, tailoring the service to each client’s needs.
· Support HMRC correspondence and compliance matters, including tax codes, P11Ds, tax credits, gift aid relief claims and related queries.
Your knowledge, skills and experience
· ATT and/or CTA qualified, or part-qualified with strong relevant experience; ACA/ACCA backgrounds with personal tax experience will also be considered.
· A minimum of five years’ experience within a private practice personal tax environment, with exposure to portfolio management and compliance review.
· Strong technical knowledge across UK personal tax, including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, employment benefits, pensions and HMRC compliance matters.
· Experience reviewing work prepared by junior colleagues and providing constructive, practical feedback that supports development and quality.
· Confident managing client relationships, communicating technical matters clearly and identifying opportunities to deliver additional value.
· Excellent written communication, attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, accurate client correspondence and reports.
· Highly organised, commercially aware and able to manage competing deadlines during peak compliance periods.
· A proactive mindset, with an interest in improving processes, using technology effectively and supporting a consistently high standard of service delivery.
· Comfortable with networking, business development and building strong internal relationships across the wider firm.

Pay: £40,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
