Our client is an independent veterinary practice with over 100 years of history and a genuinely mixed caseload. The workload is approximately 80% small animal, 15% equine and 5% farm.

They are looking for an experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon who is confident with consultations, routine surgery and some sole-charge work, but most importantly, someone who genuinely enjoys mixed practice and wants to be part of a supportive team.

The Role

A key part of the role is the practice’s own out-of-hours service, giving you the opportunity to see a varied caseload and develop your clinical decision-making and confidence.

The OOH rota is designed with plenty of support and recovery time:

1 weeknight on call per week

1st on-call vets receive a half day off from 1pm the following day

1 Saturday morning in 3

1 full weekend on call in every 6

Following a full weekend on call, there is no weeknight on call the following week

Friday or Monday off following a full weekend, creating a 3-day weekend

Bank holidays shared equally

Nurses triage all OOH calls before contacting the vet

Another vet is available for support

No sole-charge OOH
