We are recruiting Kitchen Porters to work in healthcare catering kitchens across Westmeath, supporting food service operations in hospital and care settings.

This role involves maintaining hygiene standards and assisting with kitchen duties in a structured healthcare environment.

The Role

You will work as part of a healthcare catering team, ensuring kitchen areas remain clean and compliant with food safety and infection control standards. The role includes cleaning duties and basic food preparation support.

Main Duties

Maintain cleanliness across kitchen areas, equipment and utensils
Wash dishes, cookware and catering service equipment
Assist with basic food preparation tasks
Support stocking of ward pantries and beverage stations
Record temperatures and assist with HACCP compliance
Follow infection control and hygiene procedures
Support chefs and catering staff during service

Requirements

6–12 months’ experience as a Kitchen Porter, Catering Assistant or similar role
Experience in healthcare or hospital kitchens is desirable
Basic knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP
Legal right to work in Ireland
Garda Vetting is mandatory for relevant roles.
International Police Clearance is required where a candidate has lived or worked outside Ireland for 6 months or more since the age of 16
Ability to provide five years of verifiable work references
Reliable and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and teamwork skills

Pay & Conditions

€17.53 per hour
Double pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays
Daytime shifts (typically 7:00am–6:30pm)
Monday to Sunday roster, depending on service requirements
Structured healthcare working environment
Ongoing placements and training provided
