HGV Mechanic: (Company Name - Subscribers only)
Shaws Commercials are seeking an experienced and reliable HGV Mechanic to join our team in Castlebar. T Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the successful candidate will deliver high-quality vehicle servicing and diagnostics.
Key Duties:
Service, maintain, and repair HGVs, trailers, and commercial vehicles
Carry out CVRT preparation, diagnostics, and fault-finding
Respond to defect reports and resolve mechanical issues promptly
Complete routine and non-routine repairs to a high standard
Work with the transport and workshop teams to minimise vehicle downtime
Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, RSA, and company standards
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
Support junior staff with guidance when required
Perform additional duties as required by management
Requirements:
National Craft Certificate / City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent
Minimum 3 years’ post-apprenticeship experience
Experience with HGVs or heavy commercial vehicle repair (advantage)
Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work safely, efficiently, and independently
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Good level of English (written and verbal)
Physically fit to meet the demands of the role
