About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our growing care team. This is a senior frontline role combining high-quality hands on care with leadership responsibilities to support the safe, effective, and person centred delivery of services.

You will act as a role model for care staff, assist with supervision of team members, and support the Team Leader and Management Team with care coordination, quality assurance, and client wellbeing monitoring.

This role is ideal for an experienced Healthcare Assistant ready to take the next step in their career.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Care Duties

  • Deliver high-quality, person centred care in line with individual care plans
  • Assist with personal care including bathing, dressing, continence care, and grooming
  • Support clients with mobility, transfers, and safe use of equipment
  • Administer and record medications in line with company policy
  • Monitor, record, and report vital signs and changes in client conditions
  • Support with nutrition, hydration, and meal preparation
  • Provide emotional support, companionship, and dignity focused care
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable care environment

Senior & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior point of contact for carers during shifts
  • Support the Team Leader with staff guidance, spot checks, and field supervision
  • Assist with mentoring and shadowing new care staff
  • Promote best practice, safe working procedures, and high care standards
  • Support care plan reviews and report concerns to management
  • Liaise professionally with families and healthcare professionals
  • Assist with incident reporting and safeguarding procedures
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and documentation
  • Support rota coordination and visit allocation where required
  • Lead by example to promote teamwork, professionalism, and compassion

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a healthcare or domiciliary care setting
  • Experience administering medication and maintaining MAR records
  • Strong understanding of person centred care and safeguarding procedures
  • Experience supporting or mentoring other care staff
  • Confident in recognising and escalating clinical concerns
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead shifts effectively
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Competent in record keeping and care documentation
  • Compassionate, professional, and reliable approach to care

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
  • Medication Administration Training
  • Moving & Handling Practical Training
  • Experience supporting clients with complex needs
