A leading fire engineering consultancy is seeking an Associate Fire Engineer to join its Manchester office. This is a senior leadership position within a growing team, offering strategic influence, project oversight and involvement in business development.

This role is suited to an experienced fire engineering professional operating at Associate level or a Principal ready to step up.

The Role

You will provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of complex projects including commercial, high-rise residential, healthcare, infrastructure and mixed-use developments.

You will play a key role in shaping the Manchester office’s growth, managing client relationships and overseeing project delivery standards.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and reviewing fire strategies across major developments

*

Providing technical oversight on performance-based design solutions

*

Reviewing advanced fire modelling outputs (CFD, evacuation modelling, smoke control analysis)

*

Acting as primary client contact on key accounts

*

Managing project delivery, programme and resource allocation

*

Supporting fee proposals and contributing to business development

*

Mentoring and developing senior and junior engineers

*

Maintaining strong relationships with approving authorities

Requirements

*

Extensive fire engineering consultancy experience (typically 10+ years)

*

Degree qualified in Fire Engineering or related discipline

*

Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant guidance (e.g. Approved Document B, BS standards)

*

Proven experience leading large or complex projects

*

Strong commercial awareness and experience managing client relationships

*

Experience overseeing modelling tools such as FDS, Pathfinder or similar

*

Demonstrable leadership capability

Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is highly desirable.
