Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our busy kitchen team. In this role, you will take ownership of a designated section of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of preparation, presentation, and hygiene. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to grow in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and run a specific section of the kitchen (e.g. grill, larder, fish, pastry).
Prepare, cook, and present dishes to the highest standards.
Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef in developing new menu items.
Ensure all food preparation is in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Sous Chef.
Train and mentor junior staff and apprentices in your section.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.
Work efficiently under pressure and during busy service periods.
Contribute to a positive, respectful team environment.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a similar role within a professional kitchen.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen operations.
Culinary qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) is desirable.
Ability to work well under pressure and in a team.
Good communication and time management skills.
A passion for food, creativity, and a commitment to excellence.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Desirable:
Experience in fine dining or high-volume service.
Food safety certification (e.g., HACCP Level 2 or 3).
Knowledge of allergens and dietary requirements.
