Overview

An innovative and fast-growing space technology company is seeking an AOCS Engineer to support the design, development, integrat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n, and operat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n of advanced spacecraft platforms.

This role plays a critical part across the full satellite lifecycle – from early architecture and algorithm development through hardware integrat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n, validat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n, and on-orbit operat(Company Name - Subscribers only)ns.

Key Responsibilities

System Architecture & Design

  • Lead the development and evolut(Company Name - Subscribers only)n of the spacecraft AOCS architecture

  • Design and integrate sensors, actuators, react(Company Name - Subscribers only)n wheels, magnetorquers, and control algorithms

  • Ensure system performance meets miss(Company Name - Subscribers only)n-level pointing and stability requirements

Algorithm Development

  • Design and implement advanced attitude determinat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n and control algorithms

  • Support multiple pointing modes and control scenar(Company Name - Subscribers only)s

  • Optimise system performance for precis(Company Name - Subscribers only)n and robustness

Simulat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n & Modelling

  • Characterise sensors and actuators through modelling and simulat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n

  • Develop and maintain spacecraft simulators for system validat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n

  • Conduct trade-off analyses to optimise AOCS performance

Hardware Integrat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n

  • Specify, evaluate, and select AOCS components (e.g., star trackers, IMUs, sun sensors, magnetometers, react(Company Name - Subscribers only)n wheels)

  • Integrate AOCS hardware with spacecraft subsystems

  • Support system-level verificat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n activities

Testing & Validat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n

  • Develop and execute hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests

  • Perform ground-based simulat(Company Name - Subscribers only)ns and commiss(Company Name - Subscribers only)ning activities

  • Troubleshoot integrat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n and performance issues

On-Orbit Operat(Company Name - Subscribers only)ns

  • Support AOCS calibrat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n and commiss(Company Name - Subscribers only)ning

  • Assist with manoeuvre planning and fault management

  • Provide technical support during miss(Company Name - Subscribers only)n operat(Company Name - Subscribers only)ns

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • 2-5+ years’ experience in spacecraft AOCS/ADCS or GNC

  • Strong understanding of closed-loop control systems, orbital mechanics, and spacecraft dynamics

  • Experience with sensors (IMUs, magnetometers, star trackers, sun sensors) and actuators (react(Company Name - Subscribers only)n wheels, magnetorquers)

  • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems

  • Experience with MATLAB and/or Python for modelling and simulat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n

  • Experience with hardware integrat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n, system validat(Company Name - Subscribers only)n, and testing
