About the Digital Innovation Unit
The Digital Innovation Unit is a capability within the Faculty of UCL Engineering Sciences and the first of its kind in UCL, if not the UK. Its mission is to develop a model for the ‘Faculty of the Future’, by applying digital innovation to all aspects of academic practice: research, teaching, knowledge transfer and professional services. The unit has a challenging and varied workload, each playing a role in implementing new systems and processes, and providing ongoing support for delivered solutions. By working in close partnership with private sector experts, the team will both design and implement new solutions, and repurpose existing solutions to support and enhance the business of UCL Engineering.
About the role
Please note: This role is available as 0.8 – 1.0 FTE and is fixed term until 31st October 2026.
The post holder will play a key role in the life cycle of communications and marketing strategies and activities related to prospective students, ensuring these are in line with the faculty and UCL as a whole. Working with a number of departments, the post holder will lead in areas, not limited to, but including: ensuring prospectus information is complete and compliant with the relevant UCL and Competition and Markets Authority regulations, designing and producing marketing literature as well as event co-ordination including virtual and on-campus open days.
The post holder will also manage relationships with internal stakeholders and third parties in conjunction with others to ensure the UCL and faculty story is accurately conveyed to UCL prospects, generating appropriate engagement with the recruitment process and foster a culture of continuous improvement practice by critically appraising all student recruitment activities to ensure lessons learned are applied to future plans, and missed opportunities are mitigated where required.
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
About you
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following criteria:
Educated to A level standard (Grade C or above) or having acquired relevant experience in terms of writing and analysis.
Understanding of the rapidly developing digital landscape and the relationships between SEO, paid activity, content and social media in respect to marketing.
Experience of creating and managing news and media content.
Computer literacy, including competency in word processing (e.g. Microsoft Word) and familiarity with the rest of the Microsoft suite of software (especially Excel and Outlook) as well as diary management software and Google Analytics.
Strong organisational skills, time management and project management skills, including the ability to work effectively on numerous group and individual projects simultaneously.
