An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and driven nurse to join our Oculoplastic service within Ophthalmology at (Company Name - Subscribers only) (CUH). We are seeking a NMC registered nurse with experience of working within Ophthalmology who has a desire to progress to a Clinical Specialist role.

The role is challenging and will provide you with varied experience and opportunities for professional development with a friendly and supportive team. You will also be required to complete an in-house clinical skills competency package.

You will be expected to have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. You must be able to work both independently and with a team to make a positive impact to patient care. While specialist support and training will be provided for the right candidate, relevant clinical experience in ophthalmology is essential.

Our experienced and passionate Oculoplastic Consultants and Clinical Lead Nurse will support you and guide you to work towards setting up nurse led clinics and improving services for Oculoplastic patients.

You will be expected to have a flexible approach to meet the needs of the service. There is also a requirement in this role for you to be involved in the wider MDT, research studies, supporting patients and their families, and teaching other staff.

The Oculoplastic Nurse Specialist will not only support patients within the Oculoplastic service and their carers/families, but will also be a vital member of the multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will participate in planning nurse led services and undertake nurse led Botulinum toxin clinics. He/she is also expected to support the consultants in the outpatient clinic setting and new and follow up patients, thereby ensuring that the clinics run smoothly.

The post holder will receive training & mentorship from clinicians and the Lead Nurse with the ultimate aim of the development nurse role working independently as the Oculoplastics specialist nurse. Once trained, duties of the post holder will include the management of a caseload of oculoplastic patients, providing specialist advice within their clinical area. The post holder will act as a clinical leader and role model for ongoing development of clinical practice, research and standards of care.

The Oculoplastics nurse specialist will be a core member of the department and will be responsible for ensuring a coordinated and comprehensive range of services are provided for all patients receiving active treatments within the Oculoplastic service at CUH.
