the team is a growing, ambitious care home group committed to delivering outstanding care whilst maintaining strong financial and operational performance. As we continue to expand, we are looking for an organised, proactive and confident Sales Ledger & Credit Controller to join our Finance Team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and ensuring cash is collected efficiently while providing excellent customer service.
The Role
Reporting into our Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the sales ledger and credit control function across our care homes, ensuring invoices are raised accurately , payments are received promptly and outstanding debts are actively managed.
You will work closely with Local Authorities, NHS Integrated Care Boards, Continuing Healthcare teams, Clinical Commissioning teams (where applicable), private residents and their families to resolve payment queries and maintain strong cash flow across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Sales Ledger for multiple care homes.
- Raise and issue invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Proactively chase outstanding debt by telephone, email and written correspondence.
- Build positive working relationships with Local Authorities, NHS teams and other funding bodies.
- Liaise with residents, relatives and third-party funders regarding payment queries.
- Allocate receipts and maintain accurate customer account records.
- Produce aged debt reports and provide regular updates to the Finance Manager.
- Escalate overdue accounts where appropriate.
- Work with Home Managers and operational teams to resolve invoicing or funding issues quickly.
- Ensure all information is accurately maintained within Sage 50 / FOUND.
- Support month-end processes and reporting.
- Continually look for ways to improve processes and cash collection performance.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is confident, resilient and enjoys speaking with people. You’ll be comfortable having professional conversations to recover outstanding payments while maintaining positive relationships.
You will ideally have:
- Previous Sales Ledger and Credit Control experience.
- Experience using Sage 50 (essential).
- Strong reconciliation and account management skills.
- Excellent telephone manner and communication skills.
- Confidence chasing outstanding debt and negotiating payment resolutions.
- Good understanding of invoice processing and cash allocation.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
- Experience within the care, healthcare or Local Authority sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
