Are you looking for an exciting PostDoc position working in brain imaging and cognition? Do you have a PhD or near to completion using imaging methods? Are you interested in how strategies can improve memory in older adults?
The School of Psychology at the (Company Name - Subscribers only) are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team studying the neurobiological mechanisms of strategy use to improve memory in ageing. The 1-year position will contribute to a project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). You will work with Dr Melanie Burke and Dr Richard Allen ((Company Name - Subscribers only)), along with Prof Louise Brown Nicholls (PI, University of Strathclyde), Dr Claudia con Bastian (University of Sheffield) and Prof Mario Parra Rodrigues (University of Strathclyde) on the project ‘Strategy Training to support healthy cognitive ageing: behavioural, neuroimaging and real-world investigations’.
To be considered for the role, you will have completed, or almost completed (i.e., submitted, pending examination), a PhD in cognitive neuroscience, psychology or a closely related discipline. You will have some experience or knowledge of brain imaging methods, with an interest in memory and cognitive ageing. You will have experience with quantitative and imaging research methods and of relevant software for analysis. Experience with relevant experimental software (e.g., PsychoPy), handling complex data, and collecting cognitive data with older adults, would be an advantage. You will have the ability to conduct research work in a professional and sensitive manner. You will be able to plan, organise, and prioritise your own workload, including leading preparation of research proposals and papers, and meeting deadlines. You will also be able to work within a team, including liaising with external collaborators and other stakeholders. Finally, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to present complex information in an accessible way to different audiences.
