About us
(Company Name - Subscribers only) Department of Science and Technology Studies (STS) seeks to appoint one Lecturer (Teaching) in Philosophy of Science to contribute to taught undergraduate modules, and to undertake related academic support duties. This is a part-time (50% FTE), fixed-term appointment, available from 01 September 2026 to 31 August 2028.
We interpret science, technology and society broadly. Areas that we are interested in, and are relevant to this position include, but are not restricted to: Philosophy of Science, Science and Ethics, and Research Ethics, Metaphysics of Science, Epistemology of Science.

About the role
The main duties of the post will involve:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the subject area.
- Complete marking for these modules in a timely fashion.
- Undertake administrative duties associated with the modules and with STS degrees.
- Contribute to the academic life of the department.
The specific module assigned to this post will likely include:
- HPSC0004 Philosophy of Science 1
- HPSC0050 Philosophy of the Natural Sciences
- HPSC0085 Knowledge, Explanation and Classification in Science
- Teaching and/or assistance on teaching on further modules as directed.
