Healthcare Assistant: (Company Name - Subscribers only)
• Carry out care duties for the resident as stated in the Care Plan as devised by the nursing staff.
• Meet the care needs of each individual resident, ensuring privacy and dignity, respect, and choice.
• Assist and support the Activities Co-ordinator in providing activities for individual residents and groups.
• Assist in creating a stimulating environment for residents.
• Be aware of HIQA standards and ensure working practices are compliant.
• Be sensitive to the emotional / psychological / spiritual needs of the resident and family.
• Ensure safe moving and handling, using equipment provided.
• Report to staff nurse an account of care given to residents in order that they may record it in the residents nursing notes.
• Advise the nursing staff immediately of any significant changes / deterioration in the patient’s condition.
• Advise the staff nurse immediately if any written or verbal complaints are received from patients/ families, or any accident or untoward incidents that may occur.
• Assist in keeping the nursing home clean and tidy and maintaining a safe working environment.
• Ensure adequate stocks of linen and supplies and report low stocks to nursing staff.
• Always ensure good infection control practices.
• Escort and chaperone residents when necessary.
• Attend and participate in team meetings.
