We have an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is looking to gain experience in health economics and health technology assessments. This one-year fixed- term contract offers a unique opportunity to get hands on experience within a global pharmaceutical company.

The successful candidate will work within the Health Technology Assessment and Outcomes Research (HTA&OR) Group. The Group is responsible for managing all submissions made to UK Health Technology Assessment Agencies (NICE, SMC and AWMSG) for our medicines; and the JCVI (Joint Committee for Vaccines and Immunisations) for our vaccines. The team of 20+ technical staff produce submissions which inform the agencies about the effectiveness, costs, and broader impact of our new products, enabling decisions to be made around NHS resource allocation. The team is primarily made up of people who are either Health Economists or Evidence Based Medicines (EBM) specialists (clinical data analysis/synthesis).

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the HTA&OR Manager to develop/write the economic components of selected HTA submissions to a high quality and in a timely manner
  • Inputting to the development of economic and budget impact models for HTA submissions
  • Working within a cross-functional matrix (medical, marketing, market access, external affairs, global teams) to optimise HTA submissions and associated stakeholder management
  • Identifying and resolving problems/issues related to prospective HTA submissions (e.g. modelling issues), with support from the HTA&OR Manager
  • Assisting in development of local market access strategies and tools to optimise access post-HTA submission
  • Designing and delivering cross-functional research projects related to HTA
  • Identify and maintain data sources routinely used by the HTA&OR team

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • MSc or PhD in Health Economics or Economic Evaluation in Healthcare

Desired Experience/Skills:

  • Indication of interest in Life Sciences/Healthcare
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK HTA landscape and processes
  • Experience and interest in developing cost-effectiveness models and conducting systematic literature reviews
  • Experience and interest in medical statistics/evidence synthesis
  • Project management including leadership of cross-functional projects to deadlines
  • Detail oriented with the ability to understand highly technical concepts quickly
  • Experience solving complex problems
