Location: HMP Bronzefield
Hours: 37.5 per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday

The Head of Residence plays a pivotal role in leading our residential operations, supporting Residential Managers and Senior Prison Officers to ensure the effective and efficient running of all house blocks.

Main Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operational Oversight
Support the Deputy Director in delivering strategic priorities aligned with Sodexo values and HMPPS guidance, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and leading the prison in their absence.
People Leadership & Staff Development
Inspire, lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, embedding a positive culture through effective communication, role modelling, staff engagement, and formal people processes including recruitment, investigations, and disciplinary action.
Resident Care & Safety
Champion a culture of care, decency, and safety for all residents — ensuring living conditions, interactions, and support services are of the highest standard.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
Monitor and drive performance across your function, proactively managing risk, addressing underperformance, and leading initiatives that improve outcomes in line with contractual and audit requirements.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement
Build and maintain strong working relationships with external partners and stakeholders to support safety, decency, and rehabilitation efforts, representing the prison and Sodexo in the wider community.
Budget & Resource Management
Maintain effective control over functional budgets, staffing, and other key resources, ensuring efficient operations and value for money without compromising quality or compliance.

Essential

Proven senior leadership in complex, fast-paced environments
Ability to build trust, motivate teams, and drive a culture of accountability
Strong people management and communication skills
High-level risk awareness and operational oversight
Authentic leadership aligned with Sodexo’s values
MOJ Level 2 Clearance, CTC, SC, and Enhanced DBS
Desirable

Senior management experience in custodial settings
Commercial awareness and contract delivery experience
Project management or change leadership qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2)
Experience in business continuity planning
