Head of Psychology: (Company Name - Subscribers only)

We are collaborating with a private client, a rapidly expanding provider of safe and nurturing children’s homes, specialist education, and supported accommodation across England. Established in 2007, the company has grown to a team of over 1,000 colleagues. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Psychology to join their dedicated team. This role offers hybrid working arrangements and requires national travel across various sites in England.

Please note a driving licence and access to a car is required. Tier 2 sponsorship cannot be provided for this role.

Duties and responsibilities for the Head of Psychology are:

  • Design, implement, and oversee the therapeutic services for the Residential and Supported Accommodation divisions.
  • Develop a system to ensure team outputs are evidenced and measurable.
  • Contribute to the formulation of a therapy dashboard, providing a monthly management information report to be shared with divisional MDs and the Senior Executive Team (SET).
  • Line manage a team of psychologists.
  • Maintain compliance with KPIs and SLAs, taking prompt action to address any negative variations.
  • Closely monitor team outputs to ensure maximum utilisation and identify areas of underperformance.
  • Embed a therapeutic approach throughout the Residential and Supported Accommodation divisions.

Minimum requirements for the Head of Psychology are:

  • Chartered or holding a doctorate in a psychology discipline (e.g., forensic, clinical, counselling, educational, organisational) with HCPC and BPS registration.
  • HCPC Registered.
  • Experience in leading a similar function within Health and Social Care/Education, with a solid understanding of associated regulations, is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional judgement with the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proven track record of achievement against KPIs in a similar environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to negotiate and challenge.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in spoken, listening, writing, communication, and presentation skills in English.
  • Outstanding administrative skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
  • Team-oriented and results-focused.
  • Strong IT literacy.
