Your Role

This role is the brand product owner for level measurement product ranges. Your products need to achieve sustainable sales growth and profitability, tracking market expectations and business goals. The role is expected to achieve these targets through strategic planning, value proposition definition, forecasting, and marketing direction across all stages of the product lifecycle. This involves working at both a strategic and tactical level across geographical and organizational levels, and with the customer held centric to all we do.

The Product Manager will work with global cross functional teams; new product development (NPD), design engineering, commercial, global manufacturing operations (GMO), procurement, marketing and technical support.

Success in this role requires a comprehensive knowledge of market conditions and customer needs, combined with an understanding of the value of the product offering, translated into its features and functions. The Product Manager will engage in and demonstrate a culture of leadership, innovation, continuous improvement, talent development, and bias toward action which delivers results.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop lifecycle management roadmaps for live products
  • Ensure products meet customer defined specifications and industry standards/certifications
  • Through on-going customer and marketplace interaction, take the lead in defining required products changes, product extensions, and cost reductions for existing products. The Product Manager writes Market Requirements and defines Business Cases, then collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Procurement in defining the Product Specification document
  • Communicate clearly and consistently to internal stakeholders on all updates to strategy or direction for the product ranges
  • Embrace 80/20 analysis principles and look for opportunities to apply to existing product offering and customers
  • Rationalize products as needed; manage transitions with clear communications internally and externally
  • Run pricing analysis with recommendations as required, or otherwise performed at the annual review.

NPD:

  • Through on-going customer and marketplace interaction and Voice of the Customer (VoC), define and document customer requirements for new products
  • Represent the customer and commercial needs in the NPD project team
  • Develop and oversee plans for new product launches using appropriate tools and templates
  • Manage product launches through defined development stage gates
  • Lead project teams in post-launch action reviews, capturing and sharing relevant learning
  • Post launch, monitor sales against the business case for ROI.

Product & Market Training and Promotion:

  • Define, maintain and where necessary deliver product training (internal and external)
  • Assist with development of promotional strategies/campaigns based on marketing research and competitive analysis
  • Support promotion of the product externally through all channels
  • Always place emphasis on health and safety issues in-line with statutory requirements
  • Lead communication to senior leadership (meetings, presentations) regarding product performance measured against financial metrics.

Travel

  • Both UK and Global, as required to fulfill business demands.

Your background

  • Creative problem solving and strong analytical skills demonstrating ability to identify root causes of problems; generate and evaluate creative alternative solutions; implement problem resolutions quickly and effectively with fact-based decisions
  • Robust interpersonal skills, with evidence of consistent teamwork and collaboration behaviours
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and listening) with the ability to summarize effectively
  • Ability to influence others, especially those in other roles and departments
  • Willingness to challenge status quo and promote change with influencing skills necessary to build field/senior management consensus around strategic direction for both the products and the markets we operate in
  • Conceptual thinking skills to recognise and capitalise on pricing and profitability, as well as negotiation patterns based on repeated deals against competitors
  • Demonstrated effort to learn and gain a deep understanding of Pulsar Measurement’s markets and product offering
  • 5+ years successful experience of leading comprehensive projects in areas of engineering, sales, product marketing or technical service
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a vocal champion for service and to articulate the value of the function in terms of business impact
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships with senior members of all cross functional business teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. In particular, the ability to translate analytical approaches into how they apply to the business and operations
  • Proven professional business acumen and relationship building skills including intercultural competencies and mastery of diplomatic behaviours
  • Demonstrated experience and success with developing and implementing global product initiatives
  • Experience delivering sustained results in a profit & loss environment
  • The individual must be able to synthesize marketing and pricing information to draw insights and actionable recommendations (e.g., structure the problem, collect data, identify issues, and present results.
