Financial Controller: (Company Name - Subscribers only)

The Financial Controller will play a vital role in overseeing all financial aspects of the company. This is a hands-on position that requires a proactive and highly motivated individual with strong accounting, reporting, and analytical skills. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity of financial records, provide regular and timely accurate financial information to management, and contribute to the company’s strategic decision-making process.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Reporting:
o Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
o Analyze financial performance and provide insightful commentary to management.
o Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track business performance.
o Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with Irish GAAP.
o Liaise with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits.
• Financial Management:
o Manage all aspects of the accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
o Oversee cash flow management and ensure adequate liquidity.
o Develop and implement robust financial controls and procedures.
o Manage banking relationships and negotiate financing arrangements.
o Ensure compliance with all relevant tax and regulatory requirements.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts in collaboration with department heads.
o Monitor actual performance against budget and identify variances.
o Provide financial analysis and support for business planning and decision-making.
• Other:
o Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function.
o Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.
o Stay up-to-date on relevant accounting standards and regulations.
o May supervise and mentor junior finance staff.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within an SME environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with Irish GAAP.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Experience with accounting software packages.
Desirable Skills:
• Experience with SAGE
• Knowledge of grant application processes
• Experience in a Not-for-Profit organisation
