Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electronics Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electronics and be adept at troubleshooting and repairing various electronic devices. This role requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Electronics Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining the functionality of our equipment and ensuring optimal performance.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electronic equipment using hand tools and schematics.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on electronic devices to ensure longevity and reliability.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex issues related to computer networking and hardware.
  • Perform computer repairs, including hardware upgrades and installations.
  • Utilise mechanical knowledge to assist in the repair of equipment across various departments.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and inventory of parts.
  • Provide technical support to staff regarding the use of electronic devices and systems.

Experience

  • Proven experience as an Electronics Technician or similar role is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and interpreting schematics is essential.
  • Familiarity with computer networking concepts and troubleshooting techniques is advantageous.
  • Experience in computer hardware repair, including diagnostics and component replacement, is desirable.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of equipment repair processes is beneficial.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.

Duties:

Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose issues in mobile phones, tablets, and laptops using specialized tools to pinpoint hardware and software problems.

Repair & Maintenance: Perform repairs, including replacing screens, batteries, circuit boards, and other components, ensuring the devices function properly.

Software Management: Install, update, and configure operating systems and applications, ensuring devices run the latest versions.

Data Recovery: Assist with data recovery and backup from damaged or malfunctioning devices due to hardware or software failures.

Quality Control: Test repaired devices, checking all functionalities (e.g., cameras, speakers, connectivity) to ensure they work as expected.

Customer Interaction: Understand customer issues, provide repair estimates, explain processes, and offer technical guidance.

Inventory Management: Track and restock parts, tools, and equipment necessary for repairs.

Soldering & Circuitry: Conduct soldering and reworking of electronic components to resolve connection and circuitry issues.

Documentation: Maintain records of repairs, including issues identified, actions taken, and parts used.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and industry standards, including ESD protection and environmental guidelines.

Learning & Development: Stay updated on new technology and repair techniques, attending training and certification programs as needed.

Team Collaboration: Work effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations and comprehensive customer service.

Technical Support: Provide technical advice to customers, helping them troubleshoot and maximize their devices’ performance

Skills:

Candidates will preferably have a relevant degree level qualification and have gained relevant working experience. Alternatively, 3 years relevant experience would be required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Freelance, Volunteer

Pay: £38,700.00 per year
