Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Dispatch and Distribution Manager to oversee and coordinate daily dispatch operations within our transport and logistics network. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient route planning, timely deliveries, fleet utilisation, and compliance with UK transport regulations.

This role is ideal for a professional with strong leadership, operational planning, and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily dispatch and distribution operations to ensure on-time and cost-effective deliveries
  • Plan, schedule, and optimise routes for drivers and fleet vehicles
  • Supervise dispatch staff, drivers, and operational teams
  • Monitor vehicle availability, fleet performance, and utilisation
  • Ensure compliance with DVSA, health & safety, and road traffic regulations
  • Coordinate with clients, depots, and external partners to resolve operational issues
  • Track delivery KPIs, driver performance, and service levels
  • Handle real-time operational challenges such as delays, breakdowns, or route changes
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and dispatch documentation
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in dispatch, distribution, or transport operations management
  • Strong knowledge of UK road transport regulations and compliance standards
  • Excellent route planning and fleet coordination skills
  • Leadership and team management experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick operational decisions
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in transport management systems (TMS), scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
