Job Summary
We are looking for a friendly and proactive Customer Service Assistant to join our team at a Post Office and Convenience Store. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, assist with postal transactions, handle retail sales, and ensure a welcoming environment for customers. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service & Sales:

o Greet customers warmly and assist them with inquiries.
o Provide knowledgeable advice on postal services, store products, and promotions.
o Process transactions efficiently, including cash handling, card payments, and refunds.
o Maintain a positive and professional attitude when addressing customer concerns.
o Promote store offers and upsell products to enhance customer experience.

  • Post Office Operations:

o Assist customers with postal services, including sending parcels, purchasing stamps, and handling money transfers.
o Ensure compliance with postal regulations and security procedures.
o Accurately process financial transactions such as bill payments and banking services.
o Maintain records of postal transactions and ensure proper documentation.

  • Retail & Store Maintenance:

o Stock shelves, rotate products, and ensure displays are visually appealing.
o Monitor inventory levels and report stock shortages.
o Keep the store clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
o Assist in receiving deliveries and restocking merchandise.

  • Team Collaboration & Training:

o Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth store operations.
o Participate in training sessions to stay updated on postal and retail procedures.
o Support new team members by sharing knowledge and best practices.

  • Security & Compliance:

o Follow store security protocols to prevent theft and fraud.
o Ensure age-restricted products are sold in accordance with legal requirements.
o Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding health, safety, and data protection.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, or postal services is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly.
  • Basic computer skills for processing transactions and managing inventory.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  • A friendly and approachable demeanour with a customer-first attitude.

Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
