We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant to join a team of ENT Consultants and Specialist. The Department of ENT offers a service for adults and children, outpatients/inpatients electives and day case work. There is a special interest within the team for Head and Neck surgery, thyroid and salivary gland surgery, FESS and Otology.
The department are supported by comprehensive imaging services, including CT, MRI scanning and Nuclear medicine, Pathology, Pharmacy and Audiology Services.
This is a permanent post is based on 10 PAs per week. This post does have an on-call requirement. The on call is 1:3 Monday to Thursday, and 1:9 Friday to Sunday, the weekend on call is shared with the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
Candidates who prefer a part time commitment are also welcome to apply. Applicants must have full GMC registration, FRCS (or equivalent) and CCT/CESR in Otolaryngology (or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT). The postholder should have completed an Otology fellowship.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Services
The appointed clinician will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the planning, delivery and improvement of clinical care in ENT Surgery at Barnsley Hospital.
Advise clinical colleagues on matters within his/her sphere of experience.
Liaise with other Health Care Organisations, Social Services, General Practitioners, Voluntary Organisations and the Hospice as required.
Training and Education
Contribute to the teaching of other grades of staff, both within and outside the department, including medical staff, nurses, paramedical staff and scientific and technical staff.
Consider a role as Educational Supervisor / Clinical Supervisor for Specialist Registrars, Core Trainees, Foundation Doctors.
