We have an exciting opportunity for a Permanent, Commissioning Support Officer to join (Company Name - Subscribers only) (SCC) in the Children’s Commissioning Team.

About the team:

The newly formed Children’s Commissioning Team are key to helping (Company Name - Subscribers only)’s Children’s Services on their exciting and rapid improvement journey. The team is helping deliver transformational change resulting in improved services for our residents. This is a small team making a big impact on the work taking place within our communities.

About the role:

As the Commissioning Support Officer, you will have a key role in supporting the redesign and commissioning of a wide range of services for children. This will include services for children with special educational needs and disabilities, children in care, care leavers, youth provision and prevention and early intervention services.

You will play a key role in our ongoing transformation journey, influencing the way our services operate, and helping embed improvements across a range of services.

You will be responsible for managing your own work areas while supporting other projects and programmes of work. This role will draw on your skills of time management, prioritisation, problem solving and attention to detail.

The role will require skills, knowledge and expertise to:

  • Undertake needs assessments, service reviews and options appraisals to inform planning and developing commissioning options.
  • Work with all stakeholders to ensure active participation in the development and design of services.
  • Lead on areas of system redesign to achieve agreed outcomes and improvements, adopting a project management approach.
  • Collect and analyse complex data to monitor the performance of providers against existing contracts.
  • Develop and manage professional relationships with service providers to help address performance issues or seize opportunities to add value.

About you:

We are looking for someone with prior experience of service redesign or commissioning and who is self-motivated, adaptable and able to organise a large and varied work programme. You will have:

  • Experience of managing projects
  • Experience of producing strategies and/or policies
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely, and appropriately for a variety of audiences
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Good analytical skills, able to assimilate, interpret and present complex information from a range of varied sources, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Knowledge or experience of working in a public sector organisation.
