Responsibilities
- Greet and engage customers in a friendly manner.
- Take and process customer orders with accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide information about menu items and make recommendations.
- Expertly prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages.
- Ensure consistency in coffee quality and adhere to brewing standards.
- Handle and grind coffee beans, maintaining freshness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the coffee preparation area.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including equipment maintenance.
- Monitor and restock supplies as needed.
- Handle cash transactions and operate the point-of-sale system accurately.
- Provide correct change and process electronic payments.
- Stay informed about coffee varieties, brewing methods, and menu offerings.
- Share product knowledge with customers and make recommendations.
- Interact with customers professionally, addressing inquiries and concerns.
- Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere for customers.
- Work collaboratively with other baristas and team members.
- Communicate effectively and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Follow health and safety guidelines, including food safety standards.
- Adhere to the dress code and maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Serve customers in a timely and efficient manner.
- Balance speed with attention to detail of orders to meet customer expectations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new coffee blends, and brewing techniques.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance barista skills.
- Adapt to varying work schedules and handle peak business periods.
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Significant portions of the day require continuous standing and movement.
- Ability to visually analyze and review documents both in paper format and online using various IT systems and programs.
- Involves lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, and ascending or descending stairs and ramps.
- Daily assignments involve applying manual skills requiring motor coordination and finger dexterity. Tasks may include typing, handwriting, and operating machinery.
- Flexibility is required due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry.
- Ensures the safe operation of equipment and addresses safety concerns promptly.
- Follows proper handling of chemicals in accordance with club and department standards and utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements and skills
- Demonstrated prior work experience as a Barista.
- Hands-on experience with various brewing equipment.
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Ability to work flexible shifts
- Basic math skills for transactions and measurements.
- Ability to gauge and cater to customers’ preferences.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
